LESSON #1
April 18, 2020
Grade 1 - 2
1-2 classes - Grade 1-2
Children aged 6-7 years
In grades 1-2, students continue to study the Ukrainian language and begin to get to know Ukraine better. The main focus is on the development of reading and writing skills in Ukrainian. Students begin to read in syllables and, throughout the year, improve this skill with the help of speed reading techniques. In each lesson, students have the opportunity to practice writing Ukrainian words, and later sentences, with printed letters and spelling. In grades 1-2, special attention is paid to work on writing, because it is not only learning calligraphy, but also the development of fine motor skills, logical thinking and excellent concentration training.
An important component of the lesson is working on students' oral language and developing correct pronunciation through conversations, games, listening to fairy tales, watching short cartoons, and studying poems.
Part of the lessons is devoted to enriching children's vocabulary on various topics, for example: types of transport, body structure, food, emotions, etc. In grades 1-2, students will learn not only everyday vocabulary, but also literary language, synonyms, antonyms, etc.
All materials used in class and for self-study are modern teaching aids, workbooks and programs developed in Ukraine for native speakers of the Ukrainian language. At the same time, each resource is adapted by the teacher to the needs of students in the classroom.
Already from the first lesson, students begin their fascinating acquaintance with Ukraine, during the year they will be able to learn more about the geography of Ukraine, begin familiarization with history, customs and traditions, learn about notable places and notable people of Ukraine.
In order for children to hear Ukrainian music from an early age and listen to it themselves in the future, they have a small movement to modern Ukrainian songs in every lesson. This gives the student an opportunity to switch their attention, relax and continue learning the language by listening to fun music.
