L'Ukrainka - the Ukrainian library of Ottawa - is a social project aimed at creating a library with a collection of Ukrainian-language books by modern authors, classics of Ukrainian literature and translated books of world literature for children and adults, in the city of Ottawa (Ontario, Canada).

 

Who created it: The initiator and executor of the project is the public organization Lesya Ukrainka Ukrainian School in Ottawa with the support of the Ukrainian Credit Union.

 

Where the books will be stored: All collected and purchased books will be stored in the premises of the Ukrainian Credit Union (Ottawa branch).

How to register to the library

You can become a reader of L'Ukrainka - Ottawa's Ukrainian library by paying an annual fee of 20 CAD using the link below. After payment, a letter from Librarika.com with a link to registration will be sent to the e-mail address used during payment. You will also receive a letter from lukrainkalibrary@gmail.com with instructions for using the library. You can also view the information from the letter here .

How to order and where to pick up/return books

You can view and order books from the library online using the electronic catalog, which you can access here .

After ordering books on the library's website, they can be picked up on the next Saturday after the date of the order, at Lesya Ukrainka Ukrainian School in Ottawa, at 1303 Fellows Rd , from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. You can return the books on the next Saturday before the end of your order at the same address, at the same time.

Who is the library for?

All children and adults, not only students and parents of the school, can use the services of the library. In order to use the library services, you need to go through the simple registration process described above.

Books in the library

The main part of the library consists of books donated and donated by the Ukrainian community. Anyone can donate Ukrainian-language books to the library, both used and new, published in 2000. Literature will also be purchased with funds collected from sponsors and fundraising.
Books in the library are Ukrainian-language editions from 2000. The collection will feature both adult and children's literature of various genres. In the library, you will be able to find classics of Ukrainian and world literature, as well as modern authors. The library also has a small collection of English-language books about Ukraine.

Terms of use of the library

     Registration to the library includes a registration fee of 20CAD, which will be collected once a year (every year). This contribution will be a deposit for books that readers will borrow from the library. A registered reader can borrow two books for one month at a time. After returning the borrowed books, you can take two other books.
